This report presents an application for funding under the Council’s Community Fund Programme.
An application for community funding has been received from, Warsash Festival Committee, for the sum of £2,565.57 to purchase equipment such as gazebos, folding tables and chairs, and fencing to enable the effective running of this bi-annual event.
The aim of the Committee is to ‘periodically plan and execute a festival in Warsash with the aim of “Bringing the Community Together”.’ The last festival that the Committee held in 2015 attracted approximately 6,000 people in total, with the majority of attendees originating from the Western Wards of Fareham. The Committee uses the funds raised to cover the cost of the following event and has a commitment to donate any surplus monies to local charities and good causes. In 2015 they gifted a total of £2,000 to Warsash Sea Cadets, Communicare and the Pancreatic Cancer Trust.
Warsash Festival Committee successfully applied to the Community Fund on the 9th June 2015, for £2,397.18, to purchase gazebos, tables, chairs, radios and a storage shed. The increase in popularity of the event has led to the current request for additional equipment.
Following the last event and the donations allocated, the Committee had £4,718.54 to carry forward. The last event cost a total of £6,523.42 to run.
Ward Councillors, Councillor Ford and Councillor Cartwright are members of this committee. Both are fully supportive of the application.
