This report seeks a decision to increase the Council’s annual sea defence asset maintenance funding. This will ensure continuation of sea defence repairs and upkeep, while helping to manage longer term financial risk and demand.
Fareham’s sea defences are critical to managing flood and erosion risk, as well as providing safe public amenity spaces. Their upkeep and maintenance is a recommendation of the adopted River Hamble to Portchester Coastal Strategy. Maintenance helps to ensure our defences reach their full service life, delays the need for capital replacement and reduces the risk of unexpected failure during storm events.
