This report presents an application for funding under the Council's Community Fund Programme.
An application for an award from the Council's Community Fund Programme has been received from Mrs Patricia Ilott on behalf of Portchester Community Bowls.
Formed in 1982, the organisation is a local club for residents wishing to play indoor short mat bowls.
The application is for the sum of £3,440 for the purchase of four "short mat indoor bowling" mats measuring 6' x 45' for the club's use. The request is for 100% of the cost of purchasing this equipment. Officers understand that, whilst the club already have mats they are old and heavy for members to move around. The club intend to use £500 they have in reserves to purchase a roller for the new mats to be stored on and transported more easily.
Cllrs Bell, Walker, Norris and Price are supportive of the application.
Cllr Norris has also commented further to ask for the club's old equipment to be gifted to another aspiring club.
That the application for £3,440 from Fareham Borough Council's Community Fund Programme submitted by Portchester Indoor Bowls for the purchase of four short mat indoor bowling mats be approved.
Officers would be happy to ask if the club would be willing to donate their old equipment to another club, however it is not recommended that the grant of the award be dependent on such.
