This report presents an application for funding under the Council's Community Fund Programme.
Tony West of Military Mentors has requested funding of £4,999 to purchase various pieces of equipment.
Military Mentors, based next to Bath Lane Recreational Ground, is a new organisation of Ex-British Forces men and women who have had successful military careers.
Military Mentors runs a variety of educational and recreational programmes including School Outreach Programmes for 14 to 16 year olds, a Forces Ready Programme for 16 to 19 year olds and personal fitness training for pupils at schools and colleges. They have been involved with, and actively seek out, community projects where the attendees can become involved and learn practical and social skills whilst giving something back to the community.
The equipment they want to purchase includes sports equipment, signage and advertising products, Armed Forces style equipment (tents, bergans, field equipment etc), litter picking equipment and personal protection clothing/equipment to enable the attendees to undertake community cleaning projects. The funding will also be used for the raw materials to produce a secure bicycle area for students bikes;, the building of which will be used as project for the attendees.
Councillor Steadman as Chairman of Fareham Town CAT and Councillor Trott are supportive of the above application. Councillor Whittle failed to respond.
