This report presents an application for funding under the Council's Community Fund Programme.
An application for an award from the Community Fund has been received from Geoffrey Foote on behalf of The Fareham and Portchester Camera Club. The application is for the sum of £1,144 for the purchase of a replacement photographic quality digital projector for the club.
The application explains that the club's purpose is for the encouragement and furtherance of all forms of photography through talks, discussions, practical evenings and competitions. The club meet in Portchester on a regular basis and membership is open to anyone over the age of 18.
In order to enable the club to host events with other clubs in the local area they are in need of a photographic quality digital projector. The ability to take part in these shared events will benefit club members. The club's application explains that novice and experienced photographers alike will gain enhanced skills and confidence through group learning, sharing and competition.
Cllrs Bell & Walker are fully supportive of the application.
Cllr Price has commented on the application to request the club receive a higher award of £1,700. However, he is still supportive of the lesser requested sum of £1,144 being awarded.
Cllr Norris has expressed reservations about this application commenting that the award amounts to £26 per club member and that the club does not involve persons aged under-18.
