The report
seeks approval for the Executive Member for Health and Housing to
attend the Westminster Health Forum Keynote Seminar to be held on
19th November 2013 in London.
The
focus of the Westminster Health Forum Keynote Seminar will be
the next steps
for emergency care and the delivery of a 7 day NHS.
The context of the seminar will be:
The Prime Minister’s announcement
that struggling A&E units are to be given a £500m bailout
over the next two years;
Release of the Health Select
Committee report
on emergency care, which recommends more specialist
units and better community services;
Ongoing roll-out of NHS 111 with NHS Direct
seeking to withdraw from its contracts; and
Discussion around the role of the GP in out of
hours care following recommendations by
the Secretary of State and GPC, and negotiations for the 2014/15 GP
contract.
